Metagenomic Analysis

Metagenomics allows the characterisation and quantification of the microbial communities present in a sample. Its implication in human diseases is currently attracting enormous interest.

 

Using data from 16S variable region sequencing (Illumina or Ion Torrent technologies), we carry out metagenomic analyses that include:

  • Data filtering and statistical quality control of sequences.
  • Annotation based on OTU (Operational Taxonomic Unit) assignment.
  • Calculation of alpha and beta diversity.
  • Taxonomic classification and differential analysis.
  • Prediction of contribution in biological and metabolic pathways.

Results visualisation

Results are delivered through our web platform Genome one Reports. Information is represented in interactive tables and graphs that can be easily interpreted and exported in formats suitable for use in scientific publications.

 

Through Genome one Reports you will have access to:

 

  • Quality analysis of the sequences obtained.
  • Alpha diversity analysis (OTUs, Shannon Index, Faith’s Phylgenetic Diversity).
  • Beta diversity analysis (Bray Curtis Index, Jaccard Index, UNIFRAC Weighted Index, UNIFRAC Unweighted Index).
  • Taxonomic classification and differential analysis (taxonomic barplots, percentages, differential analysis, differential analysis plot).
  • Prediction of metabolic impact (pathway enrichment plot and pathway enrichment table).
