Every February 8, Geneticist Day is celebrated in honor of Gregor Johann Mendel, who is widely regarded as the father of genetics.
The diagnosis of genetic diseases depends to a large extent on the knowledge of the disease itself and its genetic basis. This knowledge, together with the clinical phenotype of the patient and the medical indication that motivates the study to be carried out, allows the most appropriate diagnostic method to be selected in each case.
The development of massive sequencing technology has greatly boosted genetic studies in recent years, making it possible to identify the cause of many diseases that until now remained undiagnosed. Likewise, thanks to the information provided by genetic studies, we can anticipate possible alterations that may affect health and act early to avoid complications and obtain more effective treatments. The choice of one type of study or another will depend on different factors, so it is always advisable to evaluate each case individually.

Collaboration with associations
In Dreamgenics we want to help all those people who suffer from a genetic disease and have no diagnosis. For this reason, we collaborate with different patient associations such as APACI, ASEMPA, Asociación Quistes Tarlov, Fundación Ana Carolina Díez Mahou and Objetivo Diagnóstico, to contribute as much as possible to improve the quality of life of our associates and their families. We are currently working with the Tarlov Cyst Association on a research project to try to identify genetic variants that may be associated with the development of this disease.
